L'Oreal BB Cream

Magic Skin Beautifier B…

I have been seeing a ton of ads and commercials for "BB Cream." I am still not 100% sure what "BB Cream" even really means, but I know I love L'Oreal's version of it!

I had a bare face the day my L'Oreal BB cream (shade: Medium) arrived in the mail so I was stoked to try it out immediately. Wow! I normally do not say that about cosmetics. In my opinion, most of the drugstore brands are about equal in quality and only differ in price.

When you first squeeze the cream out of the tube it is white and there are speckles in it. Kind of like melted vanilla bean ice cream. Weird description I know - get over it. ;) I was very hesitant to slather a bunch of this on my face and thought I'd look crazy. Surprisingly, I dabbed some on and it almost instantly blended into my skin.

I have now been using the same tube almost daily for the past two months and I still am loving it! I ran out of concealer and haven't even been back to the store to buy some because this skin perfecting cream has been a great subsittute.

On really busy mornings, I know I can have at least a minute to apply some of this cream on my face, a touch of gloss, and I at least look presentable! I am very fortunate to have good skin but have started to develop some sun spots on my cheeks and I have always battled dark undereye circles. This cream has helped these two problems dramatically.

Finally, the cream is SO light you wouldn't even know you were wearing it. I think it is a reasonably priced product and something you can find at the local drugstore. Check it out next time you run out of primer, concealer, or foundation...this could replace all of those!

Pure Madness

I had never heard of Pure Madness chocolates until I received their products. Apparently, they purchase their chocolate overseas and it is supposed to be very good. I browsed around their website a bit too before receiving my package. I was sent one full sized candy bar and a box of 9 truffles to try out.

BAR
 Espresso
1. Dark Chocolate Espresso Bar - This was very yummy. I am not a huge fan of dark chocolate or espresso but this bar grew on me. At first I thought the espresso made the bar grainy but then I enjoyed the bite it gave to it. It is good quality chocolate and I was able to make the bar last a week by only savoring several squares each evening.

TRUFFLES
 9 Pc. Truffle Collection
2. Classic - One of my favorites in the box of 9. It was not overly sweet.

3. Chili Lime - A very interesting experience. The truffle itself smells like neither. The green decoration doesn't taste like much of anything either. Then you take a bite. At first you get the lime sense and right before you think, "Hey, there's no heat in this," you're mistaken! The chili flavor is smoky and not hot. Very difficult to describe. I didn't think this was yummy but one you should try if you never have.

4. Vanilla - This is what you would expect. It had a nice mellow flavor. The decoration on top had no flavor to me.

5. Sea Salt Caramel - This was the one I was most excited about. The sea salt on top is definitely legit. I think they need to put less sea salt on top. I puckered after a small bite. The caramel inside was delicious.

6. Hazelnut - I think this was my favorite in the box. If I could get a box of 9 with only this flavor I'd be good to go. It truly tasted like hazelnuts, not like artificial flavoring. Perfect.

7. Raspberry - I thought I wouldn't like it & I wound up not liking it. :) No fault of Pure Madness though - I despise any combo of fruit flavor and chocolate. Fresh fruit is a different story.

8. Rum Raisin - Good but nothing to write home about. The raisin on top was microscopic.

9. Espresso - Also very good. After having this plus the espresso bar I think I will be more open to the marriage of coffee + chocolate.

10. Dark Classic - I really like simple and so I really like this flavor just like the Milk Chocolate classic flavor.

Overall impressions:

While I thoroughly enjoyed eating my Pure Madness chocolate, I was taken aback by several things:

*The price - A bar costs $8.50 and the box of 9 truffles are listed as $27.00. That winds up at $3 per truffle!

*The size of the truffles - The price is even more shocking when you realize how small the truffles are. I was expecting them to be the size of a piece of See's candy but they were smaller than that.

*The lack of selection - After browsing the pure madness website, it appears you have no way of purchasing a truffle collection of your own choosing. You have to purchase what they give you. I would never pay $3 for the chili lime or raspberry truffles.

*The taste for the price - I've tried quite a few rich tasting chocolates in my day & these did not live up to the price. While definitely more palatable than a Hershey's bar, (although, I have no qualms eating one of those!) the taste of these chocolates do not excel over a ghiradelli or lindt bar from the store.

In conclusion, if you are someone who really likes paying a lot of money because you think that it means the product is better - spend to your heart's content. I will continue to purchase chocolate from the grocery store and maybe occasionally from a more expensive chocolatier.

Post Sesame Street Cereal

We are actually not big cereal eaters in this house. Eggs are our go to breakfast. However, cereal comes in super handy when I need a quick snack I can throw into the snack catcher or if I need something to satisfy my sweet tooth.

For my toddler, I had been purchasing those puffs which were 2 bucks for hardly several ounces of food. Then I discovered Post Sesame Street Cereal in Apple (Elmo) and Banana (Cookie Monster) flavors. They are very similar to that other brand's puffs. They don't melt in the mouth so I'd recommend these for your older toddlers with some experience eating. Besides that though, they are perfect for an on the go snack.

Here are some highlights:
  • They have very little sugar in them which of course my toddler doesn't mind. If you've been feeding your toddler high sugar cereal, they may be a bit disappointed.
  • The cereal is shaped like X's and O's. My 1.5 year old daughter is now recognizing those letters in other settings.
  • The characters are the main draw for my daughter. She just recently discovered Sesame Street and this cereal has increased her awareness for Elmo and Elmo has increased her awareness for this cereal.
  • For the price of a box of cereal you can save money buying these over that other brand of overpriced puffs.
Check out Post Sesame Street Cereal for your little one! I think it is a great option for the younger set.

Schick Hydro Silk

For some reason, having freshly shaved legs really motivates me to work out, so I was stoked when my Schick Hydro Silk came in the mail. I hopped in the shower and shaved and oh boy - my legs were the smoothest they have EVER been. I am not exaggerating.

I have tried almost every razor out there - from the cheapo disposables to the gargantuan 10 blade man razors (okay, that may be an exaggeration). However, I have tried many. They have all done a decent job but didn't wow me like this razor did.

My upper legs are an issue for me. For some reason, they have always felt stubbly even after a fresh shave. Using the Schick Hydro Silk was different though. I'm not sure if it is the five blades that are curve sensing, the unique skin guards, or the water activated moisturizing serum or a combo of all three. All I know was I wanted to put on a short skirt and show off my legs to hubby!

Smooth legs are a must especially with spring and summer right around the corner. If your razors are always leaving you wanting try Schick Hydro Silk - Free Your Skin.

Glade Expressions - Pineapple & Mangosteen Oil Diffuser

I currently have my new Glade oil diffuser sitting at my desk. It is providing me with an extremely pleasant smell. I definitely want to go back and purchase more of these for other rooms of the house. This particular fragrance smells like a Pina Colada - a refreshing smell in the middle of winter!

The scent is pleasing - detectable but not overpowering. As for the Bamboo holder I wasn't as impressed. In the box it looked nice and then I took it out and it felt cheap. The cutouts of leaves are not clean and it looks more like plywood than bamboo. It's cute from a distance, but up close you can tell not much effort was put into making this look elegant.

I've used oil diffusers before and I like this one better than those because of the frangrance and the fact you can't see the actual oil. Also, the oil bottle is not going to spill all over the place if a one-year old happens to storm through. *Smiles*
